Best Tasting Whey Protein Powder 2016

How did we decide on the best tasting protein powder of 2016?

best tasting whey protein shakeOK,  I’m going to be honest with you here. It’s mostly all subjective. Obviously we can single out bad tasting supplement drinks and say, those are not good…and I think most people will agree. But when it comes to great tasting protein shakes – well I’m sure everyone has their own opinion. Most people here love the taste of chocolate flavored whey protein powders…but I’m sure there are a lot of folks out there who detest anything chocolate flavored and only drink strawberry.

In order to keep things scientific – We were only looking for the best tasting protein powder with water, none of them were mixed with milk or anything else that might effect the flavor.

SO…with that in mind, we decided the best way to compare the taste of each protein powder was:

  • Build up a database of user reviews for each powder and cross check them to see how many times each one is referenced as being the ‘best tasting whey protein shake or powder’
  • OK, we might well be choc-oholics and not overly keen on fruity supplement shakes – but we can at least compare and decide which ones actually taste as close to the real deal as they’re supposed to. So any product that tasted closer to what the flavor they are described as, get an extra tick in the plus column.

And from all of those results, even though everyone has their own opinion on what the best tasting whey isolate or concentrate is – we can at least say the above mentioned shakes (in the table) are darn good tasting weight loss supplements.

Our Best Protein Powder Tables

Were still getting to grips with our whey protein comparison table formula as we need to find the right balance between an easy to read table that show you our ratings, but also enough information in what to look for without bogging you down in information that you can already find in our detailed protein reviews. Rest assured the protein powder ratings charts you find on this and other pages, have all been thoroughly researched and extensively tested. We don’t immediately grant a top placement to a particular supplement, just because it’s from a well know brand or manufacturer – they all get tested using the same process, so our reviews remain unbiased and you have all the information needed to find the right shake for you.

There are many reviewers out there, but many of them are subjective to marketing hyperbole. We are not prone to marketing hyperbole or subjectivity, as we are motivated by the desire to prevent consumers from plundering their hard earned money on products that do not deliver results. We’re able to do this, simply because we were all in your position when we first started bodybuilding. Many reviewers just provide simplistic ratings based on products they’ve never even tested. It’s sad to see that these comparison sites, still manage to persuade people to buy a certain weight loss supplement based on what is essentially a fictitious review.

What is Whey Protein?

Basically, protein powder supplements are available in three main forms of:

Casein protein
Soy protein
Whey protein

Of the three categories of supplements, the Whey isolate and concentrate shakes are most common. This may be attributed to the fact that they are a water-soluble form of milk protein. The fact that whey is a complete protein means that you’re getting all the essential ingredients to build muscle and lose weight. While vegan supplement users may need to use soy protein supplements, these tend to have an unpleasant taste—which makes whey a preferred option for most people.

Why Would You Need A Protein Supplement?

Owing to their many benefits, an increasing number of people are now using these products on a daily basis. They can help you in various ways, including:

Help with growing – As a teenager or a young adult, you will need protein supplements, coupled with workouts, because your body is still growing. These products will help your body grow faster and more proportionally.

Recovering from an injury — When recovering from an injury, you will need extra proteins in the body to help with the healing process, it will be easier for you to get a powder that will help you in this regard.

Normal workout routines — As you workout, you will need extra proteins to help your body build lean mass and tone the muscles.

Regardless of why you would need a protein supplement, whey is among the richest sources of BCAAs, including valine and all the three basic amino acids. This being the case, they can help you with muscle growth—and are even more effective when combined with an appropriate workout routine. Additionally, these powders are a rich source of microfractions—proteins that are known to be bio active– like alpha- lactalbumin, immunoglobulins, beta-lactoglobulin, lactoperoxidase, glycomacropeptides, lactoferrin and glycomacropeptides. The list of products we have provided in our protein supplement reviews have also tested positive for various growth factors. We have also found out that most of them enhance the functioning of the immune system, enhance muscle recovery and remove toxins from the body.

Why Whey Is Better

One of the reasons why whey protein supplements are better than other forms of proteins is because whey is highly digestible. When introduced into the body, whey protein is digested at a faster rate. As a result, they are made available for use by the body at a faster rate as compared to other sources. As a matter of fact, they will test positive in your body in less than 30 minutes after eating them. This is an important factor, with regards to enhanced muscle growth.

The Making of Whey Protein Products

You probably know that whey is sourced from dairy milk. Some years ago, it was perceived to be a waste product of the cheese production process. Having discovered the essence of this protein, the various manufacturers started buying the by-product from dairy manufacturers. This is to say that supplement manufacturers now have to source their raw materials from one or several dairy farms. In other cases, Manufacturers process milk through such procedures as purification and filtering to make the various powders.

Can I make whey protein powder by myself

With regards to the manufacturing process, it can be said that most isolate vs concentrate debates today are unfounded. This is because the two are manufactured from dairy milk and in almost the same way. These raw and unflavored powders are shipped to the various supplement manufacturers. The supplement companies then add its own assortment of ingredients to make powder for weightloss or powder for weight gain. Some of the ingredients added at this stage of production include say, enzymes, flavorings and coloring ingredients. The only real arguments that are pro isolate are that it contains a higher concentration of the proteins and therefore less ingredients that serve no purpose. On the flip side of that equation, concentrate is usually a cheaper source as it contains less of the active ingredients.

While whey is considered to be one of the most effective forms, its effectiveness may be impaired by several factors. One of the main factors that have been proven to limit it’s effectiveness is the ingredients included by the various supplement processing firms. Over the years, the types and quantities of propriety ingredients used by some manufactures have resulted in reduced effectiveness of their supplements. As a result, it is highly advisable to only buy products that have been tried and tested. As professionals in this industry, we know the harmful ingredients and the companies using them in their supplements. As such, our reviews can be of great help—with regards to buying products that are of high quality and are effective.
